Modern Slavery Statement
Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement
This Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement is made by Stockwell Carpet Cleaning for the financial year ending 31 December and sets out the actions we take to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking in our business operations and supply chains. Stockwell Carpet Cleaning is committed to conducting business ethically and responsibly and to respecting the rights and dignity of every person we encounter.
Zero-Tolerance Approach to Modern Slavery
Stockwell Carpet Cleaning has a clear and unequivocal zero-tolerance policy towards all forms of modern slavery, human trafficking, forced labour and child labour. We will not knowingly engage with or support any business or individual involved in these practices. This commitment applies to every aspect of our operations, including the sourcing of materials, the provision of services and the selection and management of suppliers and contractors.
All employees, workers and contractors are expected to act with integrity and to uphold our values at all times. Any breach of our zero-tolerance stance may result in disciplinary action, including termination of employment or cessation of business relationships where appropriate.
Our Business and Supply Chains
Stockwell Carpet Cleaning provides professional carpet and upholstery cleaning services. Our supply chain primarily includes suppliers of cleaning products and equipment, maintenance and facility service providers, and other business support services. While our operations are considered low risk in relation to modern slavery, we recognise that risks may exist at various tiers of the supply chain, particularly in the sourcing and manufacture of cleaning products, textiles and equipment components.
Risk Assessment and Supplier Due Diligence
We are committed to understanding and managing the risks of modern slavery within our supply chains. Before entering into new supplier relationships, we assess the nature of the goods or services provided, the geographic location, and any known sector-specific risks. We prioritise working with suppliers that can demonstrate responsible labour practices and adherence to applicable laws and regulations on employment and human rights.
Our supplier selection and onboarding processes include an assessment of ethical standards, with particular attention given to labour practices, health and safety, and working conditions. Where appropriate, we seek assurances from suppliers that they have policies and procedures in place to prevent modern slavery in their own operations and supply chains.
Supplier Audits and Ongoing Monitoring
Stockwell Carpet Cleaning conducts proportionate and risk-based supplier audits and reviews. These may include requesting documentation regarding labour practices, verifying compliance with applicable legislation, and asking suppliers to confirm that they do not engage in or tolerate modern slavery. In higher risk scenarios, we may undertake more detailed checks, including site visits where practical.
If a supplier is unable to demonstrate adequate safeguards against modern slavery, we will work with them to improve standards within a reasonable timeframe. Where meaningful progress is not achieved or where serious violations are identified, we reserve the right to suspend or terminate the business relationship.
Training and Awareness
We aim to ensure that relevant members of our team understand the signs of modern slavery and know how to respond to concerns. Training and guidance are provided to employees involved in purchasing, supplier management and site operations so that they can identify potential risks and escalate issues appropriately.
Reporting Channels and Whistleblowing
Stockwell Carpet Cleaning encourages all employees, workers, suppliers and other stakeholders to report any suspicions or concerns regarding modern slavery or human trafficking. Concerns can be raised with line managers, senior management or through established internal reporting routes. Reports can be made in confidence and will be treated seriously and sensitively.
We do not tolerate any form of retaliation against individuals who raise concerns in good faith. All allegations will be investigated promptly and, where necessary, appropriate corrective or disciplinary action will be taken. Where there is a reasonable belief that an offence has been committed, we will consider referring the matter to the relevant authorities.
Continuous Improvement and Annual Review
We are committed to continually improving our approach to preventing modern slavery. Each year, Stockwell Carpet Cleaning reviews this statement, as well as the effectiveness of our policies, controls and due diligence processes. This review takes into account any incidents reported, results of supplier audits and changes in legislation or best practice.
As part of our annual review, we consider whether additional training, enhanced supplier checks or updated contractual provisions are required. Our goal is to strengthen our safeguards over time and to ensure that our business and supply chain remain aligned with our ethical commitments.
Approval of this Statement
This Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement has been approved by the management of Stockwell Carpet Cleaning and will be reviewed and updated on an annual basis to reflect our ongoing efforts to combat modern slavery in all its forms.
